Burgers Take Center Stage

Burger King came out with the slogan “Have it your way” in 1974. They were offsetting MacDonald’s carved-in-stone slogan. It was “two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun.” Try saying that 3 times fast! Sounds like a great challenge for the best Happy Hour at CityLine.

Going out for a burger was still a bit of a novelty. But the world has moved way beyond all that! For fun, let’s look at a few of the more outlandish burgers getting attention today.

One trend is combining different cuts of beef to come up with an improved taste. A well-known LA burger joint uses ground short rib, brisket, and rib-eye trim. Las Vegas is serving Angus beef with bacon, short rib, onion jam, and a fried egg on top. And DC layers gouda cheese, dill pickles, charred red onions, sweet chili sauce, and garlic aioli. Add on avocado, bacon, liver pate and duck eggs if you like!
